Snorkelling with Dive Down Below

I’ve been snorkelling many times, but very few times in open water.  The islands near Kota Kinabalu are ideal for snorkelling and learning how to SCUBA dive.  We spent a day out snorkelling with Tim from Dive Down Below.  We wore life jackets not because we can’t swim (what Australian kid doesn’t know how to swim?!), but more because we wanted to conserve energy and save out legs for the big Mount Kinabalu climb over the next couple of days.  It’s seriously the best way to snorkel if you don’t mind not being able to swim deep into the waters… and you can still see everything!

On my own snorkel adventure, I saw two sharks, sea snakes/eels, squid, jelly fish, gar fish, beautiful coral, and lots of colourful fish (including Nemo!).  No sea turtles, though.
